Versace Fall 2006 Winter 2007 Collection

I hate to say this, but looking at the offering from Versace's Fall 2006/Winter 2007 ready to wear collection I felt with some dread, a sense of deja vu. Pops of vivid color as in an oversized unflattering purple sweater draped over a black mini dress (something I would have worn to Senior High in 1975), futuristic harsh linear dresses that could have made their debuts in bad 1960's B Sci-Fi movies on female aliens (or on Star Trek), tunic dresses over leggins, updated trench coats. Nothing inspiring at all. Only when she got to her beautiful gowns did Versace hint at knowing how to dress a woman.

In way too much black and blue the models paraded down the runway in what appeared to be very military stiff styled clothing. As mentioned above there is much emphasis on futuristic stylized dresses and shiny patent leather coats. It seems that Versace's only show of skin is in her mini dresses and gowns with all her other pieces turtleneck or covering completely up to the neck.

The gowns however were another story entirely. Columns of silk carefully cut and wrapped around and caressing the models curves, showing entire lengths of leg with thigh high slits, lovely.
